Corsica - 1 Week Sample Cruise, Porto Vecchio to Calvi
Itinerary starting in Porto Vecchio going up the west coast
Day 0 - Join Disco in Porto Vecchio. The old town is charming and a wonderful insight into Corsican life, it's a steep climb if it's too much you can always take the small tourist train to get the views over the marina and bay.
Day 1 - Our first day will be sailing south through the Iles Cerbucales Nature Reserve which make a wonderful lunch time stop for a snorkel then after lunch continue on to Balistro, probably our favourite anchorage in south Corsica, with its beautiful sandy beach and protective cliffs.
Day 2 - It's a short upwind sail between the reefs & rocks down to Bonafacio, we can get on the dock after midday, which is the best time to arrive, with lunch onboard, the people watching starts immediately. When the afternoon temperature starts to drop its the best time to walk all the way up to the fortress town on the hill, where you will enjoy an unforgettable sunset, this should not be missed. There are lots of restaurants and bars along the harbour or up in the old town if you fancy.
Day 3 - After a breakfast of the finest french pastries it's time to leave this beautiful natural harbour behind. Anse Roccapina makes a great lunchtime stop and a shorter sail in the afternoon to Point de Senetosa and the bay of Scolio Bianco. Anchoring behind the strange and wonderful sculptured rock formations for the night.
Day 4 - Today we sail to Ajaccio - for lunch we'll anchor at Campomoro, a very small seaside town with beautiful beach, we can spend the afternoon and evening there or move closer to the town for you to go ashore. Ajaccio was the home of Napoleon Bonaparte.
Day 5 - Sail round the Iles Sanguinaires and upward to Cargese, a village founded by a greek community originating in the Peleponnese, for lunch and a further sail in the afternoon to the golfe of Girolata and tuck in under the beautiful red cliffs of the National Park.Probably the most fantastic and most beautiful coast of Corsica comprising the marine reserve of Scandola.
Day 6 - Girolata to Calvi, the last full day of your cruise, stopping at Galeria for lunch and a final swim, one last sail upto to Calvi and into the marina. A bustling little town with bars & restaurants lining the harbour and plenty of shopping in the back streets for local delicases and other souvenirs.
Day 7 - Depart Calvi, the walk to the top of the 13th century citadel is very worth while, with views back over the marina and across the bay.
