Matt & Lizzie Abbiss
Matt & Lizzie have worked together as a team on all 3 of the Disco Inferno’s for over 10 years. They have been with Disco 3 since she was on the drawing board, overseeing the build, launch and then extensively modifying her with the aim of making Disco Inferno 3 the perfect charter yacht.
The last four years on Disco 3 have seen Matt & Lizzie spend four full summers chartering in the Mediterranean; they’ve extensively cruised Sardinia, Amalfi & the Bay of Naples, Corsica, Croatia & the French Riviera, returning for the last 4 years to Saint-Tropez where they have Disco’s home berth and their base.
The Caribbean has been their winter base for eight seasons, so their depth of knowledge of the islands from the BVI to Grenada is vast. Matt & Lizzie have developed an impressive and extensive knowledge of all these areas which will make your cruise a guaranteed success.
Planning a cruise in any of these places or further afield is as exciting for Matt & Lizzie as it is for you, the guest, they love returning to beautiful places and discovering more. Matt and Lizzie love their job on Disco Inferno 3 and will do everything they can to deliver your perfect cruising holiday.
Matt started sailing dinghies from the age of 10, a hobby that quickly grew into a passion and although a sailing career beckoned he went to University and took a Law degree. After graduation the ocean kept calling him back and he decided to dedicate his career to the marine profession.
Matt has sailed over 200,000 nautical miles, he has an Ocean Yachtmaster Instructor ticket commercially endorsed for Category zero (Ocean) and still loves nothing more than getting out there and yachting, be it a relaxing cruise, starlit night passage or being in the midst of a crowded start line in 20knots of breeze, nail the pin end, flop onto port and cross the fleet, now that's what its all about!
Lizzie, started sailing dinghies at the age of 14, first as a hobby, but that quickly progressed and she ended up in the USA for 2 summers teaching sailing at Summer Camps. On her return to the UK she studied Business and Tourism and was then introduced to yacht racing and never looked back.
Now Lizzie has over 100,000 nautical miles yachting experience, having raced and cruised yachts continuously since 2001, the ocean is where her heart lies. Lizzie is also an excellent chef, in food she has found a real passion that she is still exploring and developing. The last two summers have seen her follow a more Mediterranean style menu, locally sourced ingredients and with French & Italian styles playing an important part. During the winter of 2011 she spent a day at Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons with Raymond Blanc learning about nutrition as she believes in taking good care of her guests while onboard.
Matt & Lizzie look forward to welcoming you onboard Disco Inferno to discover some of the World’s most delightful sailing spots while sharing their passion for food, wine and the sea.
